Prototype
So-called "Pole" wagons, introduced in 1924, by Felix Pole (general manager). Larger capacity (20 tons) than typical Private Owner wagon (10 tons), steel bodied.
Approx 200 built to this style - two doors per side - plus 750 to diagram N23 with single door per side.
Loco coal wagon N27 to similar design, but with solid ends instead of hinged.
Additionally approximately 5000 wagons to diagram N27 built by outside builders from 1932 onwards, sold to collieries on HP. Single hinged end instead of both being hinged on N24.
